Columbia Physical Therapy Staff Earns Certification

Karen Haber, a licensed physical therapist, who practices at Columbia Physical Therapy, PC recently earned her certification from Isernhagen Work Systems to perform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs).

Haber, a native of Castleton, earned her physical therapy degree from SUNY Buffalo and has a special interest in orthopedic physical therapy. Now that she completed the training to perform a FCE, Haber joins her associates at the Columbia Physical Therapy office in Schodack, to assist in determining a person's physical abilities and limitations. The FCE is an important tool that documents if an injured person can perform the critical job demands at their worksite or if they need job modifications or might in fact need to seek a different job. The physical therapist performs special tests and carefully evaluates the response of the person's muscles, joints and cardiovascular system as they perform different tasks such as lifting, carrying, climbing, or reaching. Physicians, employers, insurance carriers and attorneys depend on this objective report which clearly outlines the abilities and limitations one might have after an injury or surgery. Functional Capacity Evaluations are beneficial to an employer who is trying to comply with the Americans with Disability Act.

Isernhagen Work Systems is an international leader in the field of industrial rehabilitation and welcomes Karen Anderson to the group of certified providers of FCEs. For additional information contact Doreen Frank at 286-3990
